“ Sound doctrine” One can reasonably think of sound doctrine as the bones in the body . Each having its place in the body of truth and function. And gives the body structure and keeps upright . Some make the mistake of taking one doctrine and think to understand all scripture by it . This is impossible and if you try ,sooner or later you will have to “ twist the scriptures” to make or attempt to make them fit. Every ‘ISM’ that literally bedevils Christendom stems from this approach. To those religionists who put so much weight on Peter it should be noted that when the Lord asked the question “ Who do you say that I am?” Various answers were given but Peter blurted out “ Thou art the Christ the Son of the living God” Jesus said this understanding o revelation was not of himself but if heaven . But practically in the next breath when the Lord began to give more light as to his coming sufferings rejection and death. Peter made the mistake of thinking his understanding of who Christ was was the whole picture and replied to the Lord “ Be it far from thee Lord……” Jesus rebuked him “ Get behind me Satan ……” One minute he had been the mouthpiece of heaven and the next the mouthpiece of Satan ! No eternal church of God can be built on a son of Adam but only on the Son of God . Confirmed by many other scriptures that says “ GOD is the Rock. By the Lord Himself “ If any man hears my word and doeth them ,I will liken unto him as a wise man that built his house upon a rock……” Thank Almighty God that he laid out all of Peters failings ,and sins or enough to show that he could not be that rock upin which the church is built of such a character that not even the gates of hell will prevail against it . To take one verse and build a mountain upon it is not wise . We must view each verse in the light of all scripture not all scripture in the light of one verse . Moreover all “ sound doctrines” will have their root and first mention in the book of Genesis and developed or expounded on through the scriptures . From Man’s salvation ,restoration through Jesus Christ to the Bride of Christ . We must get away from: a tick box mentality of doctrines where we think we know and understand a doctrine when very often we do but skim the surface to not knowing or understanding them at all . T U L I P is a good example .,
